Kvaerner cementation india ltd way back in 1998 built a horseshoe type water tunnel for Krishna Valley Development corporation using boomer drillrigs on 4 faces . The c/s was 30 m arched and unsupported. The length of tunnel was 17 km. Atlas copco is into building of tunneling equipments around the world

Dear Anshuman,
Two main way to tunnel are:
TBM Tunnelling: use of tunnel boring machines, open shields, EPB, Slurry, Hard Rock & Mixed shields.
Non TBM Tunnelling: Road Header, Drill and Blast, NATM
Method you want to choose depends on , geology, length of the tunnel and time allowed for construction.
