DO WE REALLY RESPECT........MAKING FUN OF OTHER RELIGION BY JOKES , PRANKS , ETC ETC....
People that push tolerance or respect for religious beliefs that they agree with
or those that they deem harmless, while condemning and opposing those that they
disagree with or find reprehensible are nothing but hypocrites. Think of
Christians that say we should respect their religion, but then criticise Muslims
for wanting to stone an adulteress to death, or Muslims and Jews that insult
Christians by stating that Jesus wasn't the Son of God. Why can they
analyse and criticise other religions but we can't? With due consideration and
free will they have decided which beliefs they will tolerate and respect, which
is good and proper, but when it comes to us making a decision regarding
their beliefs, they refuse us the same courtesy and make the decision for
us: 'Respect our religion'.
Religion's realise they need to limit the damage that science and reason is inflicting on a daily basis. If they can't convince the rest of society of their views, they need to at least to shield their followers from alternative views. But how can they prevent public commentary, the publication of books and the screening of science documentaries, comedies and movies that expose and highlight the absurdities, contradictions and falsehoods contained in their faith? How do they stop rational, intelligent people picking on them?
We need to realise that if groups have to demand that you respect their beliefs, rather than letting their beliefs speak for themselves, this is automatically a mark against them. If their beliefs and claims were true and just, they wouldn't need to demand that we respect or tolerate them, we would adopt them as our own.
Though I am Hindu but I respect sure other religions too,as Muslims are too much disciplined about their religion and all of them sincerely follow the rules, similarly christians follow the rules of christianity 100% ......wHATEVER BE THE RELIGION ,ULTIMATELY EVERY ONE WORSHIP TO SEEK GOD, to seek peace,to seek prosparity,On the whole an unknown support we as a human being seek from our religions. Its only rituals are different of all religions but ultimate aim is same. So,no question of feeling any difference in other religions at all.
Its only some bad elements in each society who makes image of their own religion bad by spreading nuiscence and disturbances in world in the name of religion.
The development of religion has taken many forms in various cultures. It considers psychological and social roots, along with origins and historical development. Every religion has their own set of beliefs and practices . Till they not harm others every, religion is good. The moment they do it, we tents to differ. We all start disrespecting other religion. “We have personal reasons to respect or disrespect other religions, rather logical reasons”.
It is really difficult to answer question like this in yes n no. "We" means who? N most important question, what do we mean by religion?
Assuming u r talking about Hindus.....most of us are absolutely indifferent to other religion....few of us consider it a fashion to make mockery of our rituals.....I m not commenting right or wrong...
The question has been prompted consciously or otherwise, is becoz of Muslims n the way, they go about their religion. First of all....with due respect, let me make an honest n not so comfortable assessment.....if u view objectively.....u might find Islam n most of the Muslims today, r not consistent. Islam, n its' tenetes are great for humanity. I do beleive firmly, without being patronizing, that Islam is pece-loving religion. it is absolutely true.....The teachings of great prophet n great holy book Quaran, do not appear to be consistent with what Muslims r doing....I m not just talking of India. In Pakistan, In Bnagladesh, in London, in Iraq.....by very nature...n geography n history associated with it, muslims consider their religion to be exclusive....u can find bloody tussles within Muslims also....Shias n Sunnis keep fighting with each other....iraq n Iran, both Muslim countiries fought the war for long 8 years.....prior to 1971 now pakistani Muslims massacred now bangladeshi Muslims....The similar hair raising stories are from Afghanistan n in Iraq....It is a great tragedy that most peaceful religion is being interpreted in this fashion by maulvis...
Few Hindus....instead of going to the root of it and create a reconcilabble approach, have begun to adopt hardliner approach....provocation was great all right....but they needed to understand the desease n not the symptoms.....our neighbours Pakistan n Bangladesh are the most troubled state in the religion.....Pl let us understnad that they are making grave error.....why mos of the Muslim states r passing thru turbulent bloody phase....there is no clash with other religion....
Becoz of this inherent contradictions, it is difficult for Muslims to respect other religion.....they are confused...n don't know where to go for guidance....religion is an opium for poor...n it exactly is applicable to Muslims...
The Christinas...had the same dark phase...where Church was supreme....Church...the priests n fathers rules....anybody dare to go against the even beleifs of Church church was mercilessly killed or burnt alive....including the Jesus....evne in Hindu, we had dark age, where pandits ruled supreme...n all the social evils in the name of religion had crept in...like untouchability, prohibition to widow remarriage, sati, devadasi.....but fortunately for Hindus n Christians, they are slowly coming out of that darkness simply becoz they have progressed with progress in science n technology.....now for them religion is means to en end, not the end itself......they think of their own prosperity first...There is great deal of violent churning in Muslims as well.....they will ultimatley come out of it, the way Hindu n Christian did, to embrace the world of peace n prosperity.
Time is the essense.....I hope, time does not run out before humanity does.......
Very Interesting indeed!
Religion and its teaching is a very subjective matter. What is by all means a very good action is immediately grabbed by the religious guru's and held as something that HE has taught us!! Also a thing of most amusement is that everything that doesnt really have a history of proof is always a matter of utmost religious importance!
Religion in simple terms is a synonym for a group of people who believe in certain aspects of life! Religion is a fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a group of people. Tolerance of these beliefs depends upon the intelligence of every individual and pushing them for the society to practice it is the job of the pundits who are the guardians of these beliefs. How we as society percieve it and inculcate it in our daily lives is completely dependent on us! Honestly because this is subjective these values and beliefs can be twiated and turned to be made applicable in various other aspects of life so that our guardians can then launch a counter if a part of the intelligence of the society rises up in mutiny!
When there is a serious outcome to beliefs it becomes very difficult for all to actually put a finger and say I BELONG...!!
Also, like pointed out by Mr. Aras, religion defines the FREEDOM, RITUALS, CUSTOMS and even WISE things to do, it becomes mandatory for people of the religion to believe and practice it! Respect comes when the ENTIRE group of people representing the values and belief of the religion preactice it and are HAPPY about it! So, it is really difficult to say whether or not someone does or doesnt RESPECT his religion or others!! Important is being happy about the ACCEPTANCE of the beliefs and BELONGING to that RELIGION!! Respect will come of its own!
Very truly said, Karamjeet.
Any religion that forces or imposes their beliefs on others, needs to do a lot of soul searching as to whether or not their thinking / beliefs are true vis-vas other religion / person's beliefs.
All religions basicall preach good, but these are misinterpreted by selfish elements who ultimately have only one goal- massaging their own ego.
I am hindu, and our religion and culture taught us to respect others practices, give them the freedom, wisdom and so many things. This is the part of our culture therefore in India 8 religions are in existance with due respect, four originated here and four from outside India.
Good question Karamjeet.
