What do we feel as a teacher and researcher, that the current subject knowledge will make a child lead happy life. Do we cover Social and Emotional learning in schools.

What efforts do we put to teach a child social engagement, community committment, service learning, living in one family etc. These values will be important for a child to learn. If we do not teach them the importance of respect, committment, attachement then the world will become a nuclear family. No relationship, no attachement and no humanity.

Today the children face frustration in each and every section of life. If we (age group of 40 plus) recall, were we facing such frustration and competition in life?. The answer will be no, because of the attachement, love and respect for our family and community. But now there is internal competition among family members. Which leads to seperation.

I would like to get your views on what should be the teaching curiculum for the children, teaching them life skills to lead a happy life.

Thanks

Dear Mr. Jayant

I am in agreement with you 100%, The real life after the graduation is so tough these days, the subject knowledge alone will never help one to reach higher rug of the ladder in their life.

I have seen so many talented ones who really struggle to handle the real life situations and to make winning decisions.

Therefore our children should be given a proper mix of knowledge, so as to enable them facing the tough future.

Dear Mr. Jayant,

First of all thanks to you for sharing this information and want to know our view regarding this topic.

First I want ask to all that, as per our culture that Child's first school is his parent house where he learn the things and then he move to the carrier life for further education and be the great person & able to fight with the world by his own education strength. A child learn everything with the passing of time or step by step, we can not force or make pressure on their shoulders or also says mind because they have limitation of understanding particular syllabus. If go through the education pattern in India or the situation happened with students in India, you get so much information like recently near final examinations in 2010 about 3-5 child committed suicide everyday on an average counting. That is all due to the pressure on their mind of studies, family, some other problems which every child suffer in their teen age as we always moved from that type of situations but we were not gone through from this kind of situation in our teen age. We had a support of family, friends, and society. But with the changing in the time, thinking, generation gap, technology, studies and more things we see around us which are totally changed if we compare to 80' or 90's. The education councils in India changing and reduce the syllabus of students to reduce the suicide committing by children and give their mind relaxing.

So first we prefer parents to give their children proper guidance, time and understanding their needs. In school children get basic education which can help in making their mind sharp, knowledge full, be strong person able to fight with world and their aspects. But teachers can not give much education about respect, love, society which leads increase in syllabus as per the student thinking.

If teachers and parents do work along with them then it will be expecting that Children can learn good things from their environment.

Best wishes

Neeraj Bhandari

GAMES R LEARN BY [PLAYING] ITS PRECTICE NOT BY ITS THEORY KNOWLEDGE. ITS THEORITICAL KNOWLEDGE IS TO PREVANT MISTAKE DURING PLAYING.

PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE IS BETTER THEN THEORY.CRICKET IS THE BEST EXAMPAL.

GIVE SOME NOT SOME BUT MORE IMPORTANT, TO TEACH BY PRACTICAL WAY IN ANY SUBJECT AND GIVE ADVISE HOWE ONE CAN BE PERFECT IN HIS/HER PROJECT AND DECRESS MISTACS BY THEORY

I disagree with this point because everyone must have a subject knowledge and by the use of this knowledge implement lot of ideas and the experience  which will leads to innovation of new things.......Thus i feel only subject knowledge is not enough for a child......

Subject knowledge is essential but certainly not enough. The next step should be to develop the ability to apply that knowledge.

It's a circle, if you have good subject knowledge you can be good at practice, good practice and experiences improve your subject knowledge and the circle goes on.
