i would like to know if training is important factor to boost my sales executive performances....does training really benifit or its just another liability faced by the company.
Yes. Sales training is not only important for the executive, but equally so for the employer. If the training program is planned on content, methodology, duration and objective, it surely adds focus and verve to the executive's outlook, translating it to performance - more so, in the first few days in an organization.
The stakeholders in an ideally planned training program would be the product/service heads, reporting managers and HR, in that order. The onus of the program's success (or failure) also rests more with the stakeholders than on the executive (considering that he/she would have been hired as suitable or at least trainable, in the first place).
Would also suggest refresher courses periodically, depending on product/service updates, changes in strategy or personnel.
So, Shakun, my friend, a well-trained sales executive brings home the benefits!! Go ahead and train away, but plan first :)
hey kartik,
that was really an encouraging input. As a trainer for sales people i hardly take in credits from my trainees, though my training has all the credentials from the higher aboves. I sometimes believe that sales is not everyones cupa tea, those interested in sales never need training coz they know what to do. My concern are for those freshers who are lost in between and dont find their way.
