I think it does matter whether you are from a metro city or rural areas as there is different level of exposure to modern methods of work procedure within city limits and comparatively lesser exposure in rural areas. Modern methodolgy is been observed as been implemented in city areas as people here are ready to afford even the same product with double the cost in city limits but with a better quality. Unlike in rural areas quality been ignored and quantity been on higher side, people try to accept lower quality product as they are at cheaper price.

So even education is been prefered from a reputed university or institution, stating they need people from developed cities. Also work experience is been observed to be preferred from large companies as better knowledge is seen to have been procured under highly experienced staff and with good quality working standards. So people from foreign experience are usually seen as top level management, and from city areas on middle level.

What made you think so? Ther are how many big cities  and how many small cities in India? If belonging to a small city is treated as disadvantage then not only getting employment but also getting employees will be difficult.

I dont think so!! Any person who has the education column filled with some letters should never shy from writing it down on a CV!! It is also equally important that if education is for some reason or the other not afforded by the person, the person should make a determined effort to gather soem experience in the skill area or area of liking to spice up the CV. Its not the place that matters, its the area of skills and the experience that would eventually take the fancy of a smart HR person!1 :)
