Planning lets people impose order on the chaotic processes of making or doing something new.

Too much planning, however, can lead people to follow the same predetermined course of action, to do things the same way they were done before.

Creative thinking is about breaking free from the way that things have always been.

Planning is perfectly aligned with Creativity. Unlike the popular myth, creativity does not come with unbounded dreaming. The spark of creativity is supported by a foundation of hard work, knowledge, curiosity, exploration, etc. all of which come through planning one's day and life. Without planning, one would be so involved in the day to day and possibly unimportant activities, that you would not get time to understand the depth of the subject you are passionate about and provide fuel to your creativity.

It all depends on what you mean by planning?

Not only Planning any thing cannot interfere with creativity, if does so then a person is not creative because a creative person is one who can find solutions in different ways by passing all hurdles. Its beyond planning…

There are various shades of the words Planning, Standards, Conventional Thinking , Unconventional thinking, Creativity etc.

Standards avoid non-standard (Out of box thinking)

Planning should give space to Creativity.

Creativity need not always mean Unconventional Thinking.

No, It doesn't, being creative doen't mean dreaming or looking in sky to get some idea to create, to create one heve to explore at outstretch of brain which doesn't come without planning therefore i would recommond planning does enhance crativity.........

Definitely planning will interfere with the creativity. Planning will be done with a standard set of rules and  principles of subject which has been  taught in many volumes of subjects, whereas creativity depends on individual way of thinking ie to create something new ,innovative and different from routine set of prinicple based approach. But as one of our friend said if the creativity synchronised with the principles of plaaning the results will be commendable.

Yes Alka if I understood your perspective correctly the planning, especially pertaining to business, does interfere with creativity creativity. But no interference is necessarily a road block. Many times it channelises the creativity and makes it more useful.
