"DOSE A TRAINER NEED CERTIFICATION or SKILL" a good topic for debate. Trainer requires good skill to render training with ideas to relocate the weak points of trainee. A good trainer is who, who can understand the subject well to the depth and devote himself to feed the ideas to trainee without leaving a space of doubt or confusion to trainee. A  good trainer always places himself at the seat of trainee and than traines which in turn certainely gives good out put. In addition to that if a trainer hold some additional certification for training, it has it's own weightage.

Both, if you want to maintain employability - otherwise Not!

Life Skill Trainers, such as Swami Sukhabodhananda, Swami Jaggi Vasudev, Sri Ravi Shankar, etc. have not obtained Management Degrees from the so-called Premier Management and Technical Institutions to impart Training.  Alas, Millions of Technies and Management Experts partake in the Training Sessions they offer.

Learning is a continuum, Certification is only a benchmark or yardstick to maintain standardisation . Nothing more, nothing less.  However, your experiment with life, your agony, your sorrow, your passion, your ability to convert dis-advantages into opportunities, are the skills you need to imbibe from our spiritual masters.  They distill wisdom from Upanishads, Bhagwat Gita, Vedas, Brahma Sutras, and what not, and present to you what is relevant to you in the present situation and circumstances.  Hence they are very powerful.  No body or Organisation in the world has deviced any certification for such preaching, as VEDANTA refers to "End of Knowledge", there is nothing beyond this knowledge, if we understand, comprehend and imbibe!

The main thing for a trainer is Skills. Without skills, he is of no use. That is his main asset. Certification helps him to get recognition in the market.

A trainer might develop good skills upon time but a certification is a reason for trainees to believe that  the trainer has good knowledge of the subject & will be using a standard training procedure. A certification helps in recognition of the programme & training undergone by the trainee

Trainee will evidently get certification after tests by the trainer. To benchmark the subject of the training, the trainer should be sufficiently knowledgeable in the same. To know that the trainer's potential, certificate will be an exhibit.

Usually, if you spend a little time with the trainer, his body language and words should speak more than certificates. In this era of fake exibits, perhaps a small interaction by the trainee is the best way, before acceptance of a trainer. If any fakes come out, the certificate would prove to be not more than a piece of paper.

Certification anyone and everybody gets these days, as due to our US facing business scenario, having a US certification has become a ticket to get H1s and work permits. However, as glaringly pointed out, some of the worst project clerks and similar wonders hold PMP certifications, some are so bad they can't even be trusted to make a plan to procure a chair, something which even your younger sister would get delivered by simple means without using all the tools.

Skill and a knack, common sense, getting along with people, and basic listening skills, desire to delight the customer and keep him happy, goes a long way.  Training is a  people oriented business, certificates dont give you that, they only tell you are well connected and have worked out your commercial angle well ...

i agree to the above comments posted by my fellow members but not completely.i think if a person has the requisite skill to perform a particular job,a certification or degree doesnt really matter.for eg not all businessmen are MBAs but they still put up a laudable show.dont u think? likewise if the trainer has the skill set then a certification is not really important.

You are right Alka there are fields as you have mentioned in which certification is must.

But there are few fields where working experience is required to acquire a particular skill, for such skills there is no training insitutes and certifications. In such contexts experience is the key factor for the trainer rather than certification.
