With
energy costs going up and down.People may want to generate their own
energy in the future. There will be many systems people can use to make them energy
independent like Solar energy,Geothermal systems,Wind system etc. Do you guys think that Home Energy Generation systems will be a good idea?
This is going to happen within five years time. Just see for a solar power plant, available upto 100 KW, small industry can run their business and can save at least 40% energy through out the year, for home we can have such type of power generation plant upto 2 KW... can be installed in a 10X10 sq ft space. Otherthan that small bio gas generation units are available which can run by your food waste, need only10 sq ft space and can save 50% of your kitchen fuel cost. Small small energy saving initiatives can make your home green and self sufficient. visit www.greenhomeguide.org and get idea.
Home energy systems are important, but for a large scale problem, such as in India,
where families can't afford to install their own units, they need a provider.
Solar Thermal is a viable solution. China Energy Group is providing power to
1 million homes in China, it is proven technology. My company has solar thermal
with obvious advantages: Solar Thermal reaches energy parity, costs at least 1/2 as much,
250ma per cell gain over PV, ability to run off the suns heat or any other heat source or cold, can be
integrated into homes using existing equipment designed for solar systems that already exist.
Remember PV Cells never reach parity - meaning that you never get as much energy out as it took
to make them, solar thermal cells are mainly made of ceramics.
I feel, the trend is to achieve Energy Self-sufficient Homes.
The concept will be achieved in two ways. By optimizing energy consumption and developing own energy sources. But for bringing this distant dream in achievable terms, R & D work on solar energy systems, windmills to apply them on commercial basis.
Home Energy Generation is definitely a good thought.Yes it may be possible that in the future we will see people generating electricity in their homes but like Mr.Vineet said it may not be possible due to the costs involved in setting up and installing such a energy generation system. But let's see what happens in the future, you never know this may become a reality sooner rather than later.
This sounds like a good idea but I don't think so many people can afford to generate energy at home.Whether its installing solar panel at your house's rooftop or putting a windmill at home..neither is cheap and most of the people will not be able to afford it.But this is definitely a way one can look forward to for the future energy generation.
Yes I think so.Recenly our country has signed nuclear deal with US to fulfill our country's energy requirements but according to an analysis 60 million Indians will still be without power by the year 2030.So to make our country independent from foreign sources home energy independence will be something that will help the average citizens and the nation in general.

Power consumption increases in summer and then we see power crisis. Every time there is power cut we curse govt and wish to have private power connection. Ahmedabad in Gujarat already gets private power suly through Torrent. Should same thing can... |
What is happening is good and a little more safety concerns will make things easy. Why to introduce other distracting factors here? |
We cannot live with power cuts though there is a lot we need to do. Nuclear power is the answer and till when we do not develop an alternative to this we just cannot help it. |
