Much credible (non-PhRMA-funded) analysis clearly indicates that the FDA has been a fairly constant factor and in some cases, such as approval times, has actually gotten more favorable to industry over the past decade or so. So, while the FDA has clearly become a political football in its own right, the agency is at most only one small part of a very much larger problem.
A logical alternative is that a growing proportion of the industry's output really is of poorer quality
