For a country which refuses to spend 300 crores for building toilets in Public Schools, Rs.12,000 crores for providing safe drinking water, a few crores to protect its food grains, will any sane person agree to host a game for Rs.33,000 crores? SHAME

Its better we should not only talk about this issue, we should pro actively think as what could be done in order prevent issues like these to arise in near future.

I wonder how you can think so differently, maybe ur different! It's called PR, brand management or the branding of an India that has finally arrived! We have to see what other countries are doing too, just stating statistics that could be wrong doesn't get you even sympathisers!

Even if we invest in all the mentioned facilities who's going to take care of the maintenance and guarantee that no swindling or cheating occurs???

This question is all because it is happening in India... Just refer about China regarding Beijing Olympics and South africa which hosted World cup, both are bigger tournaments than CWG. Just see the potential and impact these tournamnts can make by properly organizing...

Frankly speaking, it's an opportunity to emerge as a "Brand India" in global market , but it is wasted by us.

& out of 33000 cr, some part of the amount is used for infrastructure development of our 'Capital" & beautification of the city from which we can show the development of India ,but it's all in vain due to shear negligence by organizing committee.

& it also affects on our image.

Show casing the development of a country in front of the world nations is always important and necessary too. China did it, in a huge way by hosting the Olympics. China has taken the development to the gross route level.  But, India's development is confined to urban areas.  The rich is becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer and the disparities is widening.  No doubt, India is on the path to development.  It needs to concentrate on providing essential amenities to its people like providing safe drinking water, protecting its food grains, infrastructural facilities required, public toilets in villages and along the roads on highways, in towns, in cities.  Hosting the Common Wealth Games is not a sin.  Proper spending for the cause is always good.  But, out of 33,000 crores a large chunk of money went into the pockets of the organizers and the politicians.  That is the cause of concern today

Vps thats true, but if we organize it in a proper way, we can get better revenue. Which can be used for other purpose as well as the countries growth..... :)
