HI Jyothi,

YES, it has affected the BD profie much more than any other profile. The reasons behind that are:

1. Due to recession, unemployed people are doing freelancing in very less rates. People are giving them orders as they also want to save money.

2. In the international market countries like China and Pakistan are doing work on an unreasonable low cost which made the situations more bad.

3. People are keeping money safe with them and are not ready to buy anythinh unless and untill it is very necessary for them.

4. The media is equally resposible for creatic panic for recession all around the world.

Recruitment Firms will have to re-think their strategy. Large Corporates will look to re-size some non core areas;

SMEs will look to hire senior execs who have been laid off form Larger Companies.

To answer the Q about BD manager's role...thinking differently and in moving away from the model ( pre 2009 )

will be the key to success - and variable will only get higher in these times!!!

Its not like that.... take in positive manner. Its right time to know about your company.... your client ... your competitors etc. Its right time to improve references... spent more time with concern persons... improve relationship... any how market have to come out from this recession in a short time... than this all exercise will help you to convert the words in action.

Well i have a different say ..........recession has given a challenge & opportunity to the BD Profile, Positive side of the recession is,  people are streamlining now ....taking things in consideration as to agreeing in terms as to the market.........& according to the consultancy.

Time to built business, get back when market is back in shape.

But my Question was whether the recession has hit the business of BD manager's in recruitment firms. where they are responsible in bringing in new requirements from new clients to recruit.

And few of them, they did mention that their job is on fire. So I would like to know when we are responsible for recruiting the employees to the companies all over, why is it now that we ourselves are facing the presure and also in the state of losing our own jobs.

I understand when every industry has hit due to recession, but why Recruitment & BD? Recruitement & BD should not be effected as they bring the employees to the companies and projects to the firms, which makes or brakes the COMPANY.....

According to me recession has hit every industry and every job profile has been affected and pink slips are the trend that is going by all over the world and as such there is no recruitment going on, but then organizations need people who will bring business to them, so in my view BD manager's job is not in the firing like at the moment....
