Infact big companies know the potential of social media, its a huge data base and a knowledgeable crowd which one get there and companies can easilly target the relevant ads, and the changing demography brands are focusing more on Social media than traditional media. The trend is also like Digital marketing spend is going up and the while budget allocation happens for marketing one is investing more in Digital media than others......but yes many SMB's in India are not completely aware of this which is not the case in our western counterparts...

Thanks for sharing your experience Jaygopal - just as you have rightly shared there are many companies in India still wondering if they should venture into Social Media. Don't give up. Maybe you want to share similar category Pages where customer and brand relationships are growing.

Nope not yet. Mine is a cautious company treading its path slowly. Even though as a marketer i have presented the need to go online many times, the management is still sceptical. Its a deep rooted thought that only traditional media works and anything new needs to be tested and thought over before it is implemented.

Hi LAXMINARAYANA you do have a very valid point about negative publicity. Once the customers know they are being cheated then dragging the companies to court and other protests cannot really be handled alone by Social Media. Having said this there no doubt are ways to tackle nagetive comments - you can qucick read here :http://goo.gl/rx6Mm

Very true Himanshu. In India unlike the developed countries many have no access to internet. Add to this not many Senior Citizens would know to operate pc leave alone internet. The simple rule of the thumb is - if your customers are online and if they are on Social Sites and if they are positive towards the Social Sites only then going via the Social Media route makes sense. Thanks for dropping by Himanshu

While whatever has been written so far is correct, the downside is that this is restricted to the customer having access to the Internet or is social media savvy. The format has tremendous potential for actual and instantaneous feedback if the corporates are willing to take cognizance of it.

Thanx for the invite and warm regards

In general people contribute to negetive publiciyt very fast, but when it comes to saying good about a service or product people generaally dont comeout in the open. That is the reason why companies bring in celebrities to endors products or services or celebrity brand ambasedors to promote the product or services. But when a product fails even those celebrities are dragged to court by the people like in a recent case where Sourav Ganguli along with companies officials were dragged to court for the fauiler of a bike to give advetrised mailage in WB. That being the case SOcial medea is afree for all platform and you may ultimately end up with only negetive publicity. How will you avoid such a situation?
