Floods in Pakistan are the biggest disaster on planet earth. They affected lives of 14 Million Pakistanis. 7 Million still have no access to food. But water is plenty. Its only that this water is BROWN and has remains of dead animals & humans.
3.5 Mln kids are at extreme risk of death (UN), 35,000 cases of acutre dirreha are confirmed (Oxfam); 500 people died due to water borne diseases (Shahina Aftab Foundation, relief team); Next wave of flooding on 26th August, 2010 in Nowshera.
BUT 90% of these deaths are preventable! All they need is soap bars=2, tooth paste=1, tooth brushes=4, washing powder=1 and towels=2. One woman saintary napkins. It costs less than $12 to provide these survival kits to a family of four for 1 month.
