May you live in interesting times is often referred to euphemistically as the Chinese curse. 2009, the year of the “OX” marked varied changes in many industries thus displacing the general normal routine of many people’s lives.

The IT industry holds its breath still. As the second half of the year has started its count down, that collective sigh of relief is yet to be heard.

The other industries affected by the recession are the automotive industry, pharmaceutical, real estate, investment banking, international airlines, silver, lead and zinc ore mining, catering and food service contracts and other manufacturing industries. The pathos continues even to the entertainment sector, where there is major recession of ideas for films this year.

I believe that there are ample reasons to continue in industry by the advertisers. The recession, rains, weak crop, drought seems to be least important as India is such a vast area for brand owners to consume their product among the consumers. The product can be advertised on regional level or climatological conditions. But the brand masters are pulling their hands out of the industry only due to absence of buyers from the market and the absence is mainly due to predictions of Pandits, that there is no 'Lagn sara' (Marriage dates) for quite some time. The marriage season for-tels the consumption among the ultimate buyer. In India a higher percentage of the consumables is consumed during marriage season. I hope that by Deepavali the market would be at its peak not only because of the festivals but also due to marriage season soon after Deepavali.

it will take some more time. but i think after mid of coming year change will take the pace. advertisers have a few reasons 2 worry. rain has came again. and it will mend the loss of kharif paddy.  and we r hoping 4 ample rabi paddy. due to these factors rural market will retain it's and gradually boost up the national economy as a whole. naturally advertiser will b the first to cheer up in 2010
