sometime it happens to you at your place,,,,,share your way to handle them...
I hope your are talking in handling your team members.
Who ever and whatever make them to align to the company's goal and higlight to the person, how and what that person's short term and long term will get addressed, to concentrate on the task. This will make you to help the pserson to complete the company's task and to push the person's goals also.
people are difficult because of several reasons. It may be because of a previous bad experience from the management - find the issue and resolve , if possible or leave it for you cannot change the past. or may be because of work environment and close association with the negative personality - find that and insulate him. or because of the traits - inborn and difficult to change - but manageable. If not manageable help him to pursue opportunities outside.
Interesting! Difficult is because we make it to be! The answer always lies within us. 'Take the bull by its horns' and make him see sense your way. Not easy at all. Becuase this bull is human and has a weapon called anger and hurt emotion (maybe). Calm exterior and a plan will make you take this bull and make it sit where you want it too. Inner turmoil is possible because of apprehension. Talk and talk and then use a 'punch & pull' technique. Meaning give in some and take some away!! The best is to thrash it out face to face!
Difficult people do exist at work. Difficult people come in every variety and no workplace is without them. How difficult a person is for you to deal with depends on your self-esteem, your self-confidence and your professional courage.The workplace, like anyplace you bring a bunch of people together, is a jumble of many different personalities. In addition to coworkers who are easy to work with, you will also find difficult people at work. What sets the workplace apart from many other places is that everyone, even the difficult people,must cooperate in order to be productive.
People become difficult when they are not heard, understood, not involved in major issues of the company etc. Have a one to one basis conversation & try to figure out the reasons for the person trying to be difficult. You can crack the difficult person by giving him more responsible role & ask him to deliever. His failure can always be used against him to tame. If he succeeds a pat on his back may work wonders.
Dealing with difficult people.......this is a very Subjective Statement. Only from specific description, can a comprehensive solution be drawn. Kicking out people ...proves your incapabilities. Infact as an HR personnel, its your job to maintain a balance between company's goals, good harmony & moral for employees and reducing the employee turnover. If one cannot put in a little extra effort to fix things....it is the person kicking out other people who needs to be kicked out first. Values are to be instilled, and respect is to be commanded.
