Collect data about the institution as others have suggested here and approach the companies which presently in to recruitment mode. Present the credentials of the educational institution and point out the cost savings in doing an on-campus interview and the advantages of finding focussed talent in multi-disciplinary atmosphere.
All said and done. Contacts work.
If you are really looking forward to bringing in the Companies for Campus, have either of two, contacts, or an impressive presentation.
To work towards it, know some basics:
: Have a Very Impressive Profile of Currently-to-be-recruited students with you. If Possible have one student working as a Placement Co-ordination Head(for the batch). Train him to talk accordingly, and do all initial discussions. Some Companies take it positively.
: HR like being entertained financially, you should be clever with the tactic to influence him/her, if so, they will sure consider your side.
: Never expect the first of second meeting with a college to close a deal for Campus recruitment. Expect at least three primary intro visits and three confirmation visits (prepare for it at least).
: Start the activities for Placement Alliances six months prior to the dates of expected placement. Keeps your options open, just in case....
: Try telling the students the rosy part of hard-work they need to do, in a job. Many students are told, jobs are tedious and stress giving. That makes them negative about whatever you give even before the start.
Generate as many indigenous case studies as possible on all verticals through the student community getting them to work on various problem-solving techniques under proper monitoring would certainly help the colleges to approach good companies. Also, it is for the colleges to connect with the villages around to do some service to uplift the places around should also help in getting the corporates visit them quite often! Media glare on these issues will certainly help too! These colleges should be happening places, rather than imparting education as per syllabus alone!
