My friend had been laid off recently and I might be the next one... Not to worry, I can cope up with it...Still I need a little help from all by knowing how others have coped with lay off...
Please do comment as you all know life is gonna be difficult when you have family+ kids to manage...
Aravind since you have not yet been laid off, think on how you will deal with such situtaion before in hand. There are so many who have seen layoff as an opportunity to get out of the job they didn't like and opt of another career which they feel is better than the previous one. So look layoff as an opportunity and look out for a change if you feel the previous job was not for you. Don't be afraid just figure out what you want and you shall be happy with it...
You can also tell your friend to look for a job which he likes, because there are people who just carry on their work because they have to, without knowing what they really want. Tell him to look this as opportunity..
