Step1
When the interviewer asks why they should hire you, it's important to be prepared. It's a good idea to jot down a basic outline of the points you want to cover prior to the interview. Don't memorize it, but make sure you know exactly what to cover.
Step2
Why should they hire you? Think hard about this one. "I'm honest, trustworthy and a hard worker." Yes, these are all great traits that employers look for, but they've heard these reasons a thousand times. Come up with an answer that will make you stand out. "I'm willing to do whatever I need to do to succeed." Doesn't this sound better than "I'm a hard worker."
Step3 :
It's okay to reference past accomplishments when telling the interviewer why they should hire you. "I am detail oriented. In fact, I was given special recognition by my current employer for perfecting project X." With this example, you've referenced a strength, an accomplishment, and special recognition your former employer felt compelled to give you. Try to make sure that your examples tie in to the position you're interviewing for.
Just say "Why Not?" And then tell them about your strengths and what you can do for the company.
Alas! in my case all these respected answer failed to get me a JOB.....................

Try and prove your attitude to the company's work and in what way you would be useful to the company's growth and to your growth as well.
Attitude makes the chunk of your whole make that a company would like to have you.
I am a sincere hardworking person with a strong desire to do something great. I strongly believe in myself. I am fully confident, optimistic, co-operative and a vey sensible person.
I believe in hard work because our tomorrow completely depends on today.I am excited about this opportunity and am really intersted in learning to do this work. I am eager to show you what i can do.

If the hiring person does not have a positive atitude, your confidence levels can be transalted in to an arrogance.Please be careful before you answer something which gives a wrong message.
i said( murthys statement) the same to sum one and he started scratching his hairs ater 48 hours of my joining .. never generalize brothers !!
In an interview, the Boss asked me the same question. I replied " I assure you sir, that in case your decision is favourable to me, you will not regret yoour decision at a lter date" His immediate reaction is "when can you join" I was selected
