Is it require creativity, management skills & team work to become a successful Civil Engineer ?

Dear Sir,

For becoming a successful Civil Engineer you must be a civil engineer to begin with. Having a clear vision,good managerial and leadership qualities will definately help.The suggestions given by S/Shri Vivek Singh and Krishna Murthy are valuable.

To become good civil engineer knowledge about concerned subject & should have quick response to difficulties. Experience in handling the situstion. Good practical and field experience, only theoretical knowledge will not enough to become a good Civil Engineer. Till you don't go in the field/site you'll not know the actual problems faced. As far as possible try to gain as much knowledge as you can which will be helpful in the field/site & in turn you can solve the problem without any difficulty/delay. It's very important to deal manpower, material & Money civil engineering mantra (MMM).

I can only contribute from my experince of very few days that, man management capability is very very much essential to become a good civil engineer.

For becoming a successful civil engineer you must be well versed with the job you do. Field experience is inevitable as far as a civil engg is concerned. We must clearly understand what we are doing and why we are doing it.

There is one Mantra, and if you follow it, you will become a successful Engineer......

"Know why you are doing what you are doing"

This means that do not do things by rote, learn the reason(s) for a doing a particular activity in a particular way, then apply your mind and debate if it is the best way of doing it or are there better ways. Always be inquisitive, search for and enhance your knowledge and experience.

A civil Engineer must be strong in Practical expereince. His nature of behaviour should be cooperative, He should be technically shound, he should be quality of leadership, He require a vital thogts, his temrament shuld not be loose
