Domestic violence is still prevalent in our society. I have seen women suffering and yet too scared to raise their voices. What are the best ways to end this violence. Is it possible to completely get rid of it?
Laws are really necessary , which can create fear among people who behave in an unjust way with the women. Next culture, proper education and behaviour counts.
I agree with some of the top answer. There should be more education provided to everyone on this subject. There should be more done to give women a safe place to go in cases like this. There should be tougher punishments against people who commit these crimes.

Simple, introduce prohibition. Intoxication brings out the monster in men and this in fact raises the violence against women and girls. So please say no to Liquor.

If women are precious ornaments then they are better kept inside a safe locker.
If you keep ornaments out then they tend to be stolen or damaged.
Stop alcoholism. Look for example the state of Gujarat where Liquor is Prohibited. Here you will find women going about fearlessly at 2 in night unescorted. I have traveled most places and found that only root to evil is alcohol. Maybe Vijay Mallya may not like this uidea but it is a fact. annals of history also states these facts. In a recent read - Alaska by James a Michener he writes about how innuits and inhabitants of tiny islands are corrupted with alcohol and which leads to destruction of their fabric of life. May be we should lend ear to this fact and raise our voice against alcohol.
Do not sensationalize the issues related to violence against women. It is demeaning to all. But follow up the case to its logical end and ensure that the perpetrators are given their just deserts. In fact instead of spending needless space and time on meaningless pursuit (like ending corruption in a flash) the NGOs can play a very positive role in this.
We have adequate laws in place. In most of the tragic cases, law enforces had some role to play. Therefore, the beasts are guarded and protected by the very agency who are meant to protect the citizens. These people fear that their dominant positions (male-dominated) are being usurped by the feminine gender, as they are becoming more studious and assertive in every sphere of activities. Every office-going or college-going women should be asked to go for training in self-defence mechanism (martial art) in order to safeguard oneself from such revellers. Women folks within family should live unitedly (the so called "in-laws" fights within generates enmity and jealousy among themselves) so that each one will come to their rescue when warranted. Domestic violence is one such act of narrow-centric approach by the very relatives within the family.
