Make sure you (the institute) are known in the industrial world.

1. Liaison with Alumini - they are often the best people to keep the recruitment cycle going

2. Make industrial training mandatory - every student has to execute at least two industrial projects every year, this will make sure the industries start getting to know the institute

3. Think about placements from day one and not at the end of the year

4. Invest in students communication skills, specially spoken - interviews are all about how good the student can present themselves and their knowledge

5. Students should be well versed with core concepts and their practical utility in the present world.

hi sanjib.

This discussion will never end with a opt answer. It is the neccessity of the institute(college) to provide placements for their students which helps them in getting admission. In this situation,

1. colleges are seeking some training and placement providers from the cities by investing huge fund towards this.

2.Placement co-ordinators in colleges search for jobs in jobsites and contact them to get some placements.

3.Company Tie-ups are now enhanced in many institutes to get placements and exposure

4. JOB training institutes are paid much to train the students of the institutes..

Finally, by enhancing financial status of the institute, we can provide huge placements...

Hi Sanjib. Thanks for opening this discussion. The question asked, has a prime importance in today’s competitive world. There, hardly any company which is recession-proof. And in such adverse conditions, professional courses- providing colleges are trying hard to get a good placement for its students.

All the above four answers are on ‘Push’ techniques for better placements. My concern is, can we employ a ‘Pull technique’ for better placements? Can we rely on the technology to get assistance in college placements?

I know one company, which has extensively researched, to find the role of technology in students’ life to get their dream jobs during college placements and at any stage of their career life. The company has come up with a very innovative concept and bundled it in a product form- ‘Online Resume for a student’- named, Sparkle

Sparkle is a Resume builder with a DYI tool. With the Sparkle, students will have their own online resume with their own name as their website domain name. In just overnight, any student can have his own, professional looking Online Resume. He can express himself, in much sophisticated manner, the way he wants. He can express himself, the way company wants, He can express himself, the way college placement cell wants.

Without need of any HTML knowledge, one can build his online resume in few minutes. He can create his own blog-page, Rss feed , photo gallery, download section etc. He can speak about himself, his career objectives, academics, past experience, recommendations, document catalogue etc.

Sparkle, in my perspective is a great Resume builder, DYI tool that gives the great quality in terms of final presentation of the student’s website,

Students can now pull the bunch of the dream companies and their Sparkle will make these companies to consider them for their dream profile.

Applying for ‘Online Jobs’ and leave a mark will be much impressive with the help of Sparkle. For example a student named Ganesh Shulka can apply for online jobs with his very professional E-mail Id: ganeshshulka@ganeshshulka.com

All in all, Sparkle- an online Resume is a great product in the Job placement market to create the waves.

I saw the following website that forced me to know more about the concept, company and benefits of having Sparkle-An Online Resume. After gathering enough information, I simply understood why the name Sparkle? Its answer is with the help of Sparkle, students can sparkle in their career life.

Prior planning and little research can make the placement smoother. Institutes can go for tie ups with the industries, they can form 'student placement cell', invite local recruitment consultancies for placement and guest lectures.

When I was at IBS Pune, we had students' cell for placement. Students were quite active in organizing placement activities, which helped the placement gain momentum despite the bad market situation.

i agree with bharat's views regarding vacancies..... but as a fresher one must be very bold n confident to atleast search jobs n go for the interviews...

secondly there are many companies who are still hiring... ( u can search online) and the institute must take the initiative to plan this well in advance....

even the student can form a group and get few companies for campus recruitment...its just a matter of taking initiative.....

You can search job for the related area on various job portal for freshers and communicate them for your institutes and students profile may be increase the chances of hiring of candidates from this not in systematic campus placement way but main objective of providing employment can be solved!!!!

At any particular time over 1 lac technical jobs for freshers available in our country... matter is search them and communicating.... if a fresher can not do this, someone has to take this responsibility on behalf of them.....

Best of Luck
