Now a days the web based distance learning programmes for working executives are being offered by most of the premium institutes including the IIMs and these don't come cheap. And lot of people, including senior managers are going for these programmes. What I really what to know from my learned colleagues is how much these courses help particularly to people in hard core sales for 8-10 years.

Friends kindly share your experience if any and your views.

Hi Ravi,

I would recommend that Executive programs are more useful than the distance learning. Being a management student I have realized that MBA is much beyond the books and theories. MBA course is complete if it teaches you the theories and more importantly it provides a platform where these theories can be discussed, debated and applied. A distance learning program misses on these important aspects. On the other hand an executive program only invites candidates who have substantial work experience, thus, the class environment is full of new learnings through classroom teaching and discussions. During the discussions, the contribution from other candidates (who will be from a different background) will help in enriching the discussions.

Therefore, for someone with 8-10 years of work experience, an executive program will be more useful than a distance learning program.

THANK YOU RAVI.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.ONE WOULD HAVE GAINED EXPERIENCE BY WORKING SOMEWHERE.HIS EXPERIENCE WILL BE CONFINED TO A SMALL CIRCLE  OR THE INDUSTRY IN WHICH HE IS.WHEN YOU STUDY  YOU GET TO KNOW THINGS WITH A WIDER PERSPECTIVE AND GET TO KNOW LOT OF THINGS YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN BY YOUR EXPERIENCE AND PLENTY OF THINGS WHICH YOU WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN.IT IS A BLENDING OF THEORY AND PRACTICAL. YOU CAN HAVE THE RIGHT COMBINATION AS DESIRED BY YOU OR AS SUITABLE TO YOUR INDUSTRY.

I would go for yes because both companies are customer focussed and believe in developing brands and concepts. they have done so in past though singularly. So this is perfect tie up.
