How do you reply to 'What are your strengths and weaknesses' in an
interview?.........pls give ur own answer....
The question is always to be related with your compentancy to the job. In case you are experianced in that profession, naturally you should have mapped the requirements. You can express the same. You can correct the term "weakness" and you can express the competencies you are working on for "improvement".
This is a tricky question. Even before you answer - do you actually know what are your strengths and weaknesses?
I would say that be upfront about it. Also - be honest to yourself before answering. If you feel that you have certain weaknesses that may not allow you to perform well in the given job - should you relly put up a mask and try to grab the job?
It is a very tricky question. It completely depends upon the situation. While answering Strength and weaknesses, the candidate should keep in mind that his strength should match positively towards the company by which the company should feel that that will be a very great help for them. Whereas while answering weakness, by mistake also candidate shouldn't say anything which adversly effects the job profile.
For example, he should not say "My weak point is, I lose my temper",these type of statements will negatively effect the job profile and thus he will be rejected.
When it comes to strength:Numerous answers are good, just stay positive. A few good examples:
Your ability to prioritize, Your problem-solving skills, Your ability to work under pressure,
Your ability to focus on projects, Your professional expertise, Your leadership skills, Your
positive attitude .
And when it comes to weeknesses if you know about blind spots, they are no longer blind spots. Do not reveal
any personal areas of concern here. Let them do their own discovery on your bad points. Do
not hand it to them.
I agree with all the above comments from my fellow members. Unfortunately this question has become a standard and there is no easy way to avoid or duck. I have used the approach successfully in the past. I know what are some common type of challenges & heartaches one faces as a program manager on all projects. Based on the role description of the requirements, I would pickup one that has caused me an issue and answer the negativism question into positive with something like " I learnt from this that I could have acted in a different way (provide some examples). This approach demonstrates that 1-you take cricitism in a professional way 2-shows you are open to learning new techniques 3-in an indirect way you have explained your weakness with a positive spin on the answer.
Hope this helps everyone.
Talking about your weakness is a tricky one & if you answer too frankly, you'll torpedo your prospects. Whatever answers you opt for, you need that luck also such that the person sitting other side takes it well. My advice is to give answers that tell the interviewer about yourself. Strengths are easy. For weaknesses, I recommend telling the interviewer something about yourself that "will help you". For instance if you hate writing documentation and don't like to do it (and would rather find a job with less), then you can say "Although I understand the importance of documentation, it is not my best skill"........
