"HTTP error 404 - the requested resource could not be found"

I have created a website on Windows Server 2008 (IIS 7) with using its own IP Address. I have also created DNS record for the following website. The site is opening with the help of name but it didn't open with its own IP Address. The above 404 error appears ..........

         So can anyone help me in this situation??????

I HAVE JUST CONFIGURED IIS 7 AND I CAN OPEN WEBSITE WITH BOTH IP ADDRESS AND DNS. 

I THINK YOU MUST NOT HAVE SAVED THE FILE IN PROPER LOCATION, CHECK THE FILE WHETHER IT IS SAVED THERE OR NOT (C:\INETPUB\WWWROOT\_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _), IF YOU  HAVE MULTIPLE WEBSITES IN THE SAME LOCATION, THEN JUST DO A TRICK, JUST CREATE A FOLDER IN WWWROOT FOLDER FOR EACH WEBSITE THEN THERE WILL BE NO CONFLICT TO SEARCH SOURCE FILE FOR IIS. BECAUSE ITS A LOCATION WHERE WEB PAGES ARE SAVED.

I have installed IIS in my machine but when on typing http://www.localhost/ nothing is coming on internet explorer. its IE9. and I am using Windows 7.

 

Please help.

hi

for ip address,

in iis

click on website name

on right side

click on bindings.

enter ip address

enter port 80

dont enter host name

just apply

it will be work

This is particularly important if the Web site uses a virtual directory (VDIR). A VDIR is a directory that is not contained in the home directory of the Web site, but appears to client browser as though it does. This virtual directory must be mapped to a subfolder on a drive or reference the files by name.
