my laptop's dvd-rom is not detecting any cd, what should i do?is there any option instead of changing dvd-rom?

I agree with Charles.

If you are able to see the CD ROM Drive in My Computer but the Disc's are not getting detected than its an internal problem with CDROM. Hence, no need to check the Device Manager. :)

Hi Tanya,

Firstly, do confirm whether its cdrom prob or cd prob by using few cds. If no cds are playing then its confirmed that its cdrom prob and you have to take it for service.

If your laptop is under warranty then contact ur service center.

accept Tanya views..good one!!:-) Do some more...use lens cleaner dvd to clean rom lens and than try to play a new one cd/dvd of data if it works, it means rom hardware is alright if not, thn check the drivers of cd-rom (my computer icon>right click> properties> hardware> device manager> dvd/cd rom--- see is it enable or disable if again no prob. found thn replace ur rom...okk
