Today it was painful when i saw and read in media about 21 year old student was killed in Australia, even after the repeated attacked in australia against indians, our government is not sufficiently doing other than holding a mere press meet and giving a condemning statement, it is since many years the Indians are under attack especially in Australia and also in some of the middle east region? Previously it was manual attacks and now it is further updated to lethal weapons, ammunitions etc., which is causing "deep anger" in the region. All of us are already aware that both the Indian and Australian Governments are failed to initiate any commendable measures.

I would like to know according to you, what steps should be taken by a) the Indian Government b) The Australian Government and c) Indians residing in Australia to minimise these brutalities?

JEALOUSY.. thats the main cause!! Indians travelling abroad for studies are from essentially affluent families and do not spare any expenses in keeping their child secure and cash rich.

We, by birth, are a species that have been blessed with a sense of practicality and intelligence. I fear that the aussies' that have caused these sudden attacks on us are either completely dumb or lack the intelligence or both!! its ghastly. Why is the Aussie government jeopardising the inflow of currency in its country?? Education is one of the larger economic supporter of the government apart from cricket and tourism. Australia is not a country that has a huge manufacturing base at all. Education and Tourism are its sole economy raisers... Has the government gone loony???

Indian government has to take stern measures to ensure safety of Indian immigrants, especially students who have opted for higher education in a different country. Its a slap on our government anyways that people find education preferences that are better abroad instead of our own country. The government should immediately start a dialogue making the aussie govt responsible for the students safety. They shoudl shout for justice and make the Aussie govt responsible for the safety of Indians in general residing and studying in Aussie land!!

Not only Jeolosy but the fact that the jobs that are created in Australia are going to be taken up by we Indians. So there is a fear factor working in the minds of the Aussies. Of course we Indians are blessed with intelligence and thinking about problems practically because of our circumstances and values. The problem is deep rooted. On the one hand they (aussies) look down upon us and they have some sort of superiority complex. Which we Indians break very easily. This thing is troubling them. They want to earn from us by inviting us to take education courses there but they do not want that we should take up jobs on offer in their country. Politicians whether Indians or Aussies are only doing lip service. We can easily see no one in Aust has been punished so far. Whosoever has been caught will be released on account of non availability of evidence. They say there is no racism but in their minds they are not able to come out of it. Which is a very big factor. They can not see a browny earning more than them in their own country. Usually the Indians go there are from affluent class. Their spending habits are like that only which troubles them.

As far as the solution is concerned. Right now boycott Australia is the only solution. And mass migration to other destination whether India or other countries.

I like what Ashhutosh said.  the governments should talk to the Australian government  and come to a conclusion.  If they are not agreeing then we should stop sending student to Australia for studying. When there is no security why should we go there and get attacked. Nowadays we get good education in India itself.

Thanks....

Yes I agree with Suvrajit here....it all started with the monkey gate scandal...where guilty harbhajan singh walked free in the hearing with BCCI's strong arm tactics, and also the way the sydeny test match was played by the australians and Indians getting a strong support with Kumble provocative statement where he said " we all know here who played in the right spirit" that made the aussies go berserk and media throwing everything against the australian cricket team....and till then we hadn't seen a single incidents like this in Australia, but after that may nearly 50-100 incidents we have seen some which have been reported and some which has been not.....so the monkey gate scandal from Harbhajan to me that was the triggering point for the whole racism row that we are seeing in Australia at the moment........

I totally agree with the comments it is truly the racism, insecurity as priya said, but when is an end for all this? it is wondering the Ministry of External Affairs is not doing much considerable and so as Australian government too?Look at our Minister joking "We Condemn the Attack?" so rubbish, innocents are brutalised every day! unfortunately we can not appeal anywhere?

thanks for sharing

minimising such brutalities will require coordinated effort by both, the related authorities on indian side and those who residing in oz.they should resort to legal approach  that can bring the require justice to grieved .perhaps ,the punishment in racist attack should be harsh enough ,so that people think thousand time befor commiting such hatred crime .although ,local indian should support  peaceful protest to create the required stir 'coz what is just a news for many is tragedy of some .

Australians r essentially settlers who came from other parts of the world like UK,etc… I guess they feel a little insecure when they see immigrants trying to find place in Australia.. I also feel that Indians shud try and assimilate with the local population there.if they become conspicuous, they wud face trouble.

MEA shud take up the issue  with  Australian govt.

Laeeq has summed up exact senario in on sentence.

My view is first those in Australia Attacking Indians are just like those attacking north Indians and Maharashtra (just an example). Second Indian goverment has given the Australian goverment a breather after intial Brouhaha when topic came to light and I dont know what our gov. will do if trend is followed by other countries also.

Third and most important why the hell need to study in Autralia, you can easily negotiate the problem by creating better eductional infrastracture here ? ?????????
