While going into the Cloud, there is also the issue of confidentiality for one. ALL USA based cloud service providers are bound by the USA Patriot Laws to hand over any data requested by the USA Government even if the servers are located let us say in India. You obviously do not "own" the data once it is on the cloud. The service providers engineering staff as part of their regular maintenance activity can read/view the data. What happens if one of these chaps is a rouge? Cloud providers do not offer any safeguards for the loss of data from their end

No. It is not. There are a lot of issues involved in the cloud regarding security, ownership, responsibility, secrecy of cloud data, accessibility, outage that most of the cloud providers are not ready to discuss totally.
