Yes it is helpful to influence partners and get their participation and involvement in the innovation thinking process. Previously innovation was thought of as a technological breakthrough. Thanks to people like Michael Dell who have shown the world that innovation can happen by strategizing, in pricing, developing products/services and even support & value additions.Management gurus have always spoken of three major ingredients that can contribute towards innovation.1.     Creating the foundation: defining process and motivating the employees2.     Walking the talk: designing the organization structure 3.     Working with the stakeholders: collaboration with ecosystem partners, defining collaboration models and share aspirations.Companies have taken the idea of partnership to another level where they have partnered with the competitors as well. This called Co-opetition.  Innovation is a spark that can keep the growth engine of the organization up and running. Anything that can fuel this engine is worth investigating and investing.
