Two years ago, researchers at UCLA found that specific regions in the brains of long-term meditators were larger and had more gray matter than the brains of individuals in a control group. This suggested that meditation may indeed be good for all of us since, alas, our brains shrink naturally with age.

Meditation is “quieting of the mind.” However, quieting the mind is very difficult. But, with  practice we can achieve. One minute of daily meditation is better than no meditation at all.

When we stop thought, we have access to the creative energy of our life source. Some mystics say that silence is the voice of God. But when they say “silence” they mean the silence of our thoughts, not just of the world around us.

Meditating on a daily basis allows you to clear away the stress and tension that occurs each and every day of our lives. Recently there has been research which shows that meditation can help people who are suffering from hypertension. The medical community recognizes that untreated hypertension puts people at a much higher risk for heart disease, and strokes. By meditating, people are able to reduce the tension in their lives and this has been shown to help reduce their blood pressure.

Meditation helps you to achieve a deeper communication with your inner spiritual self and gain a new insight into your own personality.

Meditation also allows you to release the daily negative influences by trying to rationalize other people's beliefs and applying them to yourself. Meditation can also allow you to develop your intuition.

Meditation is not an escape from this world, it is not an activity meant to isolate us. It is instead, a way to understand the world and its ways.

The meditation can control your mind and body. While doing work and thinking of work for whole day, the brain feels unrest and may lead to number of wrong decisions. But, if we take time out and concentrate for sometime in meditation, it will create balance between body and mind for good works. I agree with Mr. Rao, but go for meditation for sometimes to avoid excess work and thinking.
