This question is not directed at any specific industry..we keep hearing about scandals that have happened in the country in the last 1 year. Be it a private sector or public sector, corruption has its foothold, a strong foothold in almost all industries. if one is not exposed to the corruption that exists in his/her company, that person can continue to the job peacefully but what about the person who gets exposed about the prevalence of corruption? There are few industries where its employees accept the bad practices as a way of life ? is it appropriate on their part to do so ??
I believe that time is ripe to become bold again for another struggle to achieve Real freedom, freedom from corrupt and corruption, freedom from forced slavery created by the corrupt politics-business nexus, which needed a win-over. Agree that quitting corrupt may lead to a job lose and financial difficulties, but then living with less dignified earnings through honor jobs is always better than easy money or earnings through wrong means. Therefore Real freedom need another honest revolution where each one of us work for victory of the common human way of life and each one of us take a pledge "I would not take money for what I haven't done"
This would be the mantra for living with honor and dignity and lead to Triumph of humanity where ordinary people' are progressive, financially independent and living happy and peaceful lives.
We "People of different beliefs" need to work collectively, uninterrupted till this dream is realized.
I therefore recommend that let us not give up to corruption. Instead we must discard corrupt, reorganize, start anew for honor living. http://bit.ly/f9zXzB
Corruption is a root cause for stopping company's growth and it appears in many faces and multidimensional and will be present in all the sectors including private and Govt as you surrounded by it.If your performance is really affected by the corruption it is better to move. And in such atmosphere you may loose your own skills and confidence level.
Thanx for the referral, Sujoy.
In my not-so-humble opinion, quitting is a very good answer sometimes but an equally bad answer at other times.
In one of my jobs, I was on the interview panel, hence I was offered money - regularly - by quite a few parties. I could not report on my colleagues - especially because some of them were very nice and I did not want them to get hurt. Of course, I could and did refuse the offer of money and so was the cause of much frustration and gnashing of teeth. :D :D
I did not want to quit because of job satisfaction and many wonderful colleagues. At the same time, I did not make the wrong kind of waves. I just did my job in what I felt to be the right manner. After sometime, a prospective employee made an accusation against certain people, the matter was investigated, and quite a few people were dismissed.
I thank God that I was NOT misunderstood to be one of them. Had I quit though, it is quite possible that many of my colleagues and bosses would have understood me to be one of the corrupt group who cleverly got out early.

It depends on what position one holds and how capable he/she is. If someone is holding a responsible position and he/she is capable, it makes a lot of difference for both individual as well as organisation. Because, a capable individual can leave the job as there are plenty of opporunities for the. And when such capable & responsible individual leaves company performance gets affected forcing the company management to revisit their policies.
'Corruption' is a 'cancer' to the society, be it in public org or private. Most of these corruptions are happening at very high level. I don't think the employees get to know about them until and otherwise the media publishes them. I would be wise to quit the company as quick as possible, once it comes under the bad publicity because of corruption.
Sir,
Till now govt services were recognized with the word corruption. In present days corporate world is not beyond it. It is well known fact. Fact is that there very few people in our society who are not indulged in corruption. corruption does not mean to take bribe only.Poeple who are not giving taxes, cheating the others, mixing the harmful food for their financial benifit etc these all are in category of corruption. One should earn the money by any means. does not matter who suffer.
So quiting is not the solution or remedy to discourage corruption in any world. We should continue with best effort and add their contribution. One thing I will say that you feel self satisfation with clean mind that will be your own advantage in return keeping your head high that no body can take from you.
There seems to be one solution in my opinion that we sould taught the coming generation about the moral values, day to day routine matter like traffic sence, there duties to the society by improving thier moral.
There is no solution except to make our moral strong which will help in resisting the corruption by every individual from any world.

Its not sensible to quit the corporate world witnessing corruption. Corrupt practices exist everywhere. "Corruption of Mind" precedes Monetary corruption! If one is stable, one would avoid it, otherwise, this money corrupts every mind, however, you seem, strong you are! Corruption at corporate level happens at the superficial level, always discussed at Board Level. They are like vultures watching all the time, who is at the helm of affairs in politics and bureaucracy. Without them, they would not be able to sustain the corporate objectives. Corporate's VISION, MISSION, QUALITY POLICY statements are for the inmates to regulate oneself, to brush them aside what really happens at the top level. You consider yourself as part of the flow, and not the flow yourself, then your attitude towards them changes!
An organization is a group of people which contains all kind of people including honest and corrupt, therefore an organization can not be labeled as honest or corrupt. Honesty depends on the majority of people where a majority of people are honest and respect values and hate the people who are corrupt then that society is known a honest society. Where the corrupt people fear from the society to expose themselves then that society is known as uncorrupted(in case there is any word) or honest. Earlier the corrupt people used to be scared to be exposed but today the corrupt people openly get receive money and boast on it.
