Is shoe insult a custom, an individual get or a gesture of protest on behalf of a community, neither, or both?

Last but not the least, for one thing politicians around the world should wake up and be attentive (not just to duck shoes flying their way) to issues that need to be resolved in time. People are tired of serious issues being regularly buried by the political class and bureaucracy. They are no longer afraid of protest as these incidents have shown. Since our dear journo Jarnail singh has not even been arrested, it can now pass off as acceptable behaviour. Politicos better watch out.

The shoe affair, which shoe to throw and which to wear!

To begin the discussion in context to Indian media scenario, firstly the journalist did not throw the shoe at the panel, he had tossed it towards the panel, as a mark of frustration that he was not being given a chance to raise his questions.

Now, is it right or wrong, justified action or not should not be the issue, coz there are many acts which occur during situations leading to provocation. The question is whether throwing or lobbing a shoe at the President or minister of one’s country or the other, is it becoming a trend to grab media attention or is it conscientiously being done to express disgruntlement? If it’s the latter then Politicians be- ware, very soon you might get hit by thick soled tailor made shoes for just providing lip-service democracy.

As far as India is concerned the shoe hitting trait is prevalent coz it’s a handy equipment, its easily worn by most and when in use ,its very effectual. Ask the Mumbai Mauvashi, any pranksters around, she controls them by her chappal. Now at least the journalists are using their shoes.

Shoe throwing is the most foolish thing to do in protest. When the person gets hit if the target is good how does that change anything.

The shoes throwing in Iraq made Bush win the war. Could this have happened in Sadham's rule?  Bush had delivered freedom to people in Iraq giving them a glimpse of democracy. So Mr. Bush had nearly achieved his target (If it was really his intention of the war.)

The Shoe throwing to the Home Minister of India made a mokery of Indian democratic process and the legal system. In fact the effect is just opposite of what had happened in Iraq. The people enjoy demcratic freedom should know the values and merits of it and act accordingly to uphold it. Otherwise India will become another Iraq in due course, the unscrupulous political activities are quickening the process.

We in no way condone the throwing of shoes at public officials of any country, for whatever reason.
