Top Answer :
while RFID is fast and ubiquitous it faces problem in the names of price and complex preparatory work. you can look into other altenatives like, RuBee which is being hailed as a cheaper alternative to RFID. Also are solutions like, VendorNet's services. It offers a Web-enabled application that automates communications from retailers and distributors to their suppliers.another altenative is GAINSystems' 'supply chain optimization' solution. GAINS' software uses proprietary statistical techniques to calculate the optimal level of inventory you need to hold at each distribution location, taking into account your lead times and costs and the desired service levels.
