Doctors of Son-producing clinics in Gujarat were penalized.
But do you think that is enough? How can we bring in change for a better tomorrow. Is it even possible?

Women are enemies of women but not men. One comes across so many cases of dowry deaths in which the mother in law is the main culprit. One has to go through female foeticides in the near past in Orissa, where I had happened to work and it hogged the limelight in the media. One does not say there is no part of men but majority are women only. In this context One may remember the famous Quote " Jealousy thy name is woman."
Darshana,greed is the mother. If son is there, he will look after his dotage parents. He will inherit the property and will maintain the lineage, The girl has to be married off to run the lineage of inlaws. This situation will remain so long as 'strong social security' is not introduced. Though there are number of cases where parents are deserted by both son as well as daughter. The "SSS" is the only key in resolvng the issue.

According to Hindu religious beliefs, son can only perform the final rites of his parents and he can only continue the baton of the family legacy etc. Irrespective of the religious backgrounds we all Indians believe the same. So the problem. I am a proud father of a two girl children. I dont have any qualms about. Our cultural outlook needs to be changed. Mr. Kanukurthy sir said it right.

Nature balances everything.For every 1000 males about 962 females are there when world population is concerned. If such brutal practices are developled by humans, Nature( Some body may call it God) balances the ratio by taking away equal number of males.Going against the nature always leads to destruction.
i know few states in india where such cases has been dropped significantly in past few years. all we need is tough punishments and strict rules by governments. every change in this world need time to implement completely. but by educating people we can contribute into it!
This is a disease of India and it has to be eradicated. But I support the words of Mr Sudershanrao, where he mentioned that the women are the enemies of women. So, teaching the women is the hour of the need and also we have to cultivate a system where the grooms will not take any dowry.
Thanks Darshana for bringing a good topic for discussion. Not many write about such things about Gujarat nowadays. in the name of creating a positive image many such things get censored in relation to Gujarat. These things can be changed only when the affected person or those in the immediate vicinity get the guts to bring it in open . Hope for a good change
I have faced a discrimination as a gal child in my own house inspite of my parents being educated. The only answer to your above question is the gals/women themselves have to come forward and fight for the issues concerning their life and future no matter even if they have to fight with their own people. Such guts needs to be developed in gals' minds itself and then only such a change can be made possible!
unless the people change their mindset it is very difficult to expect change in the system since love for son still play in the mind of most of the people even if he is well educated.
