marble v/s tiles floorings

For a royal and elegant look its always marbles which have ruled right from maharaja palaces till todays buglows provided one is able to bear the initial cost of investment and maintenance. But when it comes to economy , its always tiles low investment and less maintenanace when compared to marbles. But do remember YOU CANNOT CLEAN (sweep) MARBLES USING SALT WATER (BORING) if done also it loses its shining very quickly. Modern day builders do adopt Marbles in majority of the residential projects, but the buyer has to think about its maintenance also other than looks before purchasing. The coommercial complexes such as shopping malls,IT parks , institutions go for vitreous tiles and many other tiles coming from western countries also which sometimes require less maintenance and some similar to marbles. Anyways tiles are still better as per my choice but ONE MAY EVEN GO FOR GRANITE ALSO....... 

As far as the look of the floor is concerned then marble flooring is better but then in the case of maintenance,marble flooring is actually a problem, and why it is a problem here are some Examples, like., Even if a drop of water is there on the marble firstly it is not visible. it will be visible only in some angles.  secondly it is risky because their is a great chances to slip and bright chances of getting a serious injury.  Finally after an year or so the marble needs to be polished again to get back the shine.lastly u need to clean at least thrice a day otherwise it will appear dirty.  But then even tiles have their own flaws...so its difficult to choose between the two....would love the old redoxide floors which is there in my parents place simple and low maintenance.....

Well Marble floorings are a trend these days in almost all the type of projects.. Be it residential or commertial.If cost is not the barrier one can always choose marble over Vitreous /ceramic for its elegant look.

My choice is Marble- for bedrooms, living area & dining area because aesthetically it is more appealing, anti skid ceramic tiles should only be used in toilets, Kitchens and outdoor areas.

Now a days trend has changed,ceramic tiles are preffered in toilet & balacony area while marble in living & BR.

I prefer vitreous tiles/ceramics tiles because of variety in designs/patterns and colors..........

Marble. But not very glossy polished, to avoid slipping. Tiles as per my percerption are better in bathrooms, alleyways etc. I would in fact suggest that the shop floors should be PARQUET and the passage way in marble!! Sorry I am too simple or even novice.. So thats my view!
