I wanted to have constructive opinions and helpful suggestions on-
1) whether or not its worth introducing market directories in 2/3 tier cities in India? (I am asking of its demand in general)
2)why has not those that already exist in the Market have been able to covert their products/offerings into brands?
3)and if the answer for the first question is yes, then how do we market our product?
These are some initial questions.

Yes, you can do marketing as well as introduce very well Mr. Shoyaib. i would like to share with you some important points before introducing it that it should be consider.
(1) To make overall competitor analysis of 2/3 tier cities where you want to establish your brand. Because today there are lot of directories are available in india that you may know very well. Like citizen yellow pages, infomedia, india mart, trade india etc. all brands have already general as well as cutomized industry directories.
(2) To make analysis of services like what kind of they are providing services, how they are working, what kind of strategy they are using etc.
(3) You should have to also consider about search engine portal who are providing various kind of services online like bran "Just Dial"..these kinds of brand may effect you indirectly to your brand. And many such online directories are available in market. Like Industry wise, city wise, district wise, Association of industry. etc They are providing both industry as well as general information. So, you should have also require to consider online directories.
(4) It should require to provide more additional services apart from general information. because, only general is not sufficient. And lot of resources are available to get general information.
(5) Due to Internet , overall print media scenario going down slowly slowly. So, you should also have to think on "Long Term" purpose. You should have to also think long term or predict future market up to some level.
