In the year 2007 the growth of the construction industry in India was at around 12% and now its came down to around 9% due to recession across the globe. Please share your views on the mechanization taking place in the construction industry and its benefits in the long run.
Mechanization, automation, robotics, etc., in general, tend to raise the efficiency of operations and reduce the manual labor content. So also in construction industry. These processes speed up the operations. For instance, concrete mixing that used to be done manually can be done by concrete mixers raising the efficiency of the process manifold. I think much more mechanization in view of the many large-scale projects being undertaken in India. The overall effect of mechanization on the growth rate of construction industry can be positive.
Mechanization has turned the economy around. The labor intensive projects have liquidated effects of menial labor. The introduction of mechanization has added new dimension to the construction industries.
