Hi Shiv... It would have been better if your question was more clear.. But here I am telling you how will it actually work. I hope it is of use to you..
There are 2 methods of implementing number portability. One is a call forwarding method where the call has to be forwarded from the donor network to the recipient network. This method is inefficient in that it has to traverse through multiple networks before the call reaches the ported number.
The second method is through an authoritative Centralized Data Base (CDB) where once the number is ported, the CDB broadcasts the information to all authorized interested parties. The authorized interested parties are primarily operators who use information in the database for call routing purposes, law enforcement agencies, and service bureaus.
Hi Shiv,
The DoT has divided the country into two geographic zones for number portability implementation, each of which will be handled by a different MNP provider. Each zone is further broken down into eleven service areas that represent cities within the zone. Zone 1 will cover the northern and western regions of the country, while Zone 2 will include the south and east. Syniverse has been awarded a ten-year contract for Zone 1, which includes the service areas of Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat and seven others. DoT has awarded the mandate to implement mobile number portability services in Zone 2 to the consortium MNP Interconnection Telecom Solutions India. MITS will manage this zone for a period of five years. US-based Telcordia Technologies holds a 74 percent stake in MITS. The MNP implementation will first focus on the larger metropolitan service areas before moving into rural locations.
