petrol amount again increase, who is responsible for this  ?

Before increasing the price of petrol, our petroleum minister S Jaipal Redddy suggested the governing body (EOGM) that in place of price hike, government can reduce the heavy tax imposed on the petrol both by central and state governments. But, our honourable finance minister did not agree with this.He does not want a penny reduction in government treasure which they maintain for getting utilised by people like Kalmadi and Raja.Price of crude oil went as high as $148/bbl in international market in 2008, but at that time price of petrol was just Rs. 44 in India with the aid of subsidy provided by the government. Now,government has deregulated the price of petrol. In the present situation, when all the measures of this government to control price rise have been failed, reduction in tax rather than increasing price might be a better step.In short, government policies on petrol are responsible for increase in amount of petrol.

we the people are responsible. we have elected ourselves the reckless govt, the upa, and all its counter effects like this we have to face. people should go to their congress mp and should firmly say if he did not protest and see that price has been reduced, we will never elect him again or ask him to resign if central deny to decrease the price, two situations emerge: 1. no matter if he elect or not i bag my money in these 5 years like raja, he will not take care. 2. if he take care about people, his resignation and 5 others like is sufficient to reduce the price.

i think in india always 1 prevails.

If only, majority of us,could reduce our dependence on petrol,by opting for public transport, use cycleor go by walk to cover short distances(less than 3km) or use electric bikes/cars,we can reduce the demand for petrol. That way we'll contribute less to government coffers by way of excise and taxes so that Kalmadis and Rajas can take out less!!

Thanks,Manish for referral. i think fiscal adjustment is the mother of all increases. The subsidy is the sweet potato. The price increase was kept in abeyance for reasons of election. In my view faulty development is root cause of all mismanagement. The governments are responsible.

With Government not interested in curbing their own expenses, wastages and corruption, high taxation is here to stay regardless of increases in collection due higher prices or increased consumption. The will is completely missing.

I have posted in one  of my earlier postings that the taxes and dealers commissions and profits of the oil companies make up 90% of the price of petroleum products for the common man and 60% for the airline companies.  The government is financing its defence purchases plus fattening the purses (increasing the balances in Swiss accounts) of the politicians with this money, looted from the common man.  I still believe that it is correct

Let me put rather in a larger perspective. The rise in the gas from the Govt point of view is rather inevitable and it is well augmented by various reason /s. From the economic point of view the so called cross elasticity of demand need to addressed in clear terms. Since Gas comes under Joint Demand ( Gas & Car ) a rise in the price of Gas will have direct impact on the vehicle manufactures who in turn will  capitalize by jacking up the price of the cars which will b shifted to the buyers.  This situation remains me of  the three type of taxation. (1) INCIDENCE (2) SHIFTING AND THE THIRD IMPACT. ALL U KNOW OIL CO'S ARE MAKING A HUGE HUE AND CRY THAT THEY R ALREADY LOSING HEAVY AMOUNT AND  ONE CAN  EXPECT HONESTLY SPIRAL OR GALLOPING INFLATION LIKE SITUATION IN THE MONTHS TO COME.

MY ANOTHER MAJOR WORRY IS DUE TO RISE IN THE GAS  TRANSPORTERS WILL JACK UP THEIR COST FOLLOWED BY MANUFACTURES. ONE THING I AM TRYING TO UNDERSTAND IS THE FLOW OF MONEY AND ITS SOURCES.

THIRD AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS  THE COURT CASE OF AMBANI BRO'S IS OVER AND Y NOT THIS WRONG BROTHER TURN  AS WRIGHT BROS AND DO SOME BAILING ACT BY PPP.
