Petrol and diesel car,which one is better.

Petrol engines work clean, produce more power. petrol engines also undergo controlled combustion thru spark plug so combustion is clean. But petrol is priced much above diesel. Diesel engines are known to work dirty, need more maintenance. The combustion in diesel engine is thru compression & is uncontrolled. But the technological improvements have provide CRDE , engine additives that have improved diesel engine preformance. chosing the engine now more depends on the cost parameter. If the running is more diesel advised & for low running petrol will not burn hole inyour pocket

Dixit sir, as some of the points you have already mentioned, maintenance of petrol engines is costlier than diseal engines, Average of Diseal engine is better than petrol, and also diseal is cheaper than petrol. Also, Petrol has got a bad property of getting evaporated and combusted fast. In earth's resources, petrol is finishing faster than that of diseal.So, for a regular user, diseal car is better. The only demerit of diseal car over petrol car is, it makes lot of noise.

I dont agree with Mr. Nagpal that the diesel engine makes noise... check new crdi engines....

In my view THE PETROL ONE, As car means adventure, luxury along with travelling, As i posses both, so through my own experience i am telling:-

1.Petrol engine makes lesser sound then diesel

2.Petrol engine requires lesser maintainance

3.Petrol engine has higer pick up and speed

But for commercial purpose i will suggest diesel engine as cost matters too much in those.

Well, if a guy has to decide which car to buy, he has to look for many things.....if the decision has to be made whether to buy a diesel or petrol car... the thumb rule says that if a person uses a car atleast 1500 KM / month in that case  he should purchase diesel car, but if the usage is not that much, the person should stick to the petrol car. The performance of new diesel cars are at par with the petrol engines. The basic difference between a petrol and diesel engine is that... the petrol engine is high speed engine where as diesel engine is all power engine.. this is the reason why all the heavymachinary and trucks etc are diesel run .. also the diesel is cheaper.... just to cite an example.. if a person plans to buy maruti swift and is in dilemma to either go for petrol or diesel... just to cite that the diesel will be cheaper only after the person has driven atleast 32000 KM  this is mainly because the initial cost of diesel engine is high as compared to petrol.... 

So what i think is first a person who is planning to buy a car should check how much travelling he has to do.....

In the chemical nature of the compound(fuel), diesel is a tougher fraction than petrol. Petrol easily evaporates than diesel. So, the diesel engine has to develop more energy than petrol engine to burn the fuel completely. Hence the wear and tear will be more. Anyway mpfi (multi point fuel injection) engines have made the burning easy. But still, due to the antiknocking characteristics, petrol is a lesser vibration generating fuel than diesel - which gives you better life for engine and well as better environment friedliness. (This does not mean diesel is not environment friendly, but for the same effect, diesel engine cost will be more). Indirectly, petrol is a cleaner fuel than diesel due to easier complete combustion characteristics.

So, close your eyes and go for petrol engine.
