Greetings!

I am very keen to understand how does Retailing work in Fashion & apparel. Although i do have knowledge of the functioning i have some stumbling doubts which i'm seeking if you could pour light upon.

How does a Fashion brand/line retail its range at a mutli-brand retailer - lets say for example Lifestyle or marks & spencer??

Does the retailer only earn on the mark-up they add to the cost they buy from the vendor - which is the brand? Or are there any charges for retailing that the brand needs to pay initially?

Most importantly, what are ideal payment terms with vendor-retailer in the indian market. Net 30 days or N 60 or above? Or is Credit cards acceptable? Or Cash on delivery?
What is ideal for both the parties to ensure timely payments?
