'Say no to Bangalore and yes to Buffalo,' seems to be the latest mantra of US President Barack Obama as he struggles to bring the ailing American economy back on track.

Meeting one of his major election promises, Obama announced end to years of tax incentives to those US companies which create jobs overseas in places like Bangalore.

Please share your views on how it will affect the future of Indian IT industry..

Even before there was a debate on this like How will the New American Government affect the IT industry in India...as Obama in his election campaigns was saying that he will bring back the jobs to US from Bangalore...as most of the work was outsourced till date to India (Bangalore)..so he told he will retain the jobs in America as the Recession is at an all time high and this has adversely affected their economy...In case of India it still has to feel the heat of Recession..but then if Obama manages to do this..then there will be very less work coming from US and there is mostly disadvantage for them as again the cost would go up if they do that work in US and most of them willl oppose this stand of President Obama...but will surely affect the IT industry and one can see how much of projects and work that is coming to India.......

From Obamas point of view and the position he is helding in US,he is on the right track.

He is wanting to create jobs in US and the nearest way is bringing outsourced jobs back to offshore location.

He is doing what americans expected from him to create jobs and improve economy.

We do expect from our leaders the same thing, but then there is difference between our leaders and that of US.

thats why still we are developing economy and theyy are developed.

My question is why not other countries will be impacted more?

Why in the news of other country its not one of the major concerns..?

Because we depend on developed economies...we depend on outsourcing..............

As everyone is telling companies run for profit........not for social cause.....

if we expect this from companies then its ALSO TRUE THAT Government run for social cause not for profits(Strictly applicable for Developed countries).........

and thats what OBAMA is doing........

...second aspect........companies will fire in the time of recession........(to make the companies economy back on track)...so obama is doing(withdrawing jobs from onshore location for AMERICAS economy).

There is time for sudden transition......

Definitely it will affect Indian IT.....but till when we will fear about this issue........today or tomo it will happen...........

But one thing its sure that in moving forward few years it will help us.........And we will find a new way...(thats what India is all about)...we never bow our knees and we will devise a strategy.....(yes its fact that until or unless water comes to neck level...we dont fear that we will be drowned  in a tank.).......So, it wil affect us.......but in long run we will emerge as developed.........

I have not written this after being sentimental or emotional but correct thing ........Beacuse transformation requires a spark and its that only..............

Thanks

The debate apart, I would like to ask whether we, as Indians, need to be worried about this? As a start-up enterpreneur from India, I see that I can "grow" (not only survive) on the work in our country itself. Who really needs US? Now, I agree that there is a huge industry dependent on outsourcing. But these companies really need to look inwards, they will see lot more potential in Indian economy. It is time we take the benefits of our "IT-superpower-ness" to our fellow countrymen!

From outside of the IT industry, I feel that despite the increased tax on the outsourcing works, the cost of the jobs done in India will be less than those in the US. So the edge will remain in Bengaluru.

Experts opinion please..

Obama is a fool ,who just keeps making promises that he can never keep.

He just does not have any business sense,i am sure once he sees the business sense in outsourcing all this political rhetoric will stop.

after all companies run for profit not for some social cause.

he is seriously bringing down american capitalism and competitiveness.

All these american companies wrld famous for their business practises will start faltering.

I think i agree with all who say we should se the opprotunity in this and look elsewhere and not depend on US to show the way.

it time India takes its rightful place in the world.

However, It may effect the revenue bank of IT company but, it will agin be interested to see how companies (who are investing in IT) will be able to cope up with the vendors in terms of cost. Secondly, Companies in India have acheive level of maturity and understanding of market that they should emphasis more on R & D to compete directly with the Biggies....

In today's world outsourcing is something that no one can do without. Why would companies invest in offshore locations unless they know that they could not make as much profit by investing in America. Is Mr. Obama missing something here? He would do well to create economic policies that offer incentives to companies that invest in the US instead of pushing protectionism under the guise of creating American jobs. This way he will not only increase inflation but also he will put other countries in trouble. In stead of pulling the companies back to US if he could have thought of developing more avenues, the whole world would have appreciated him. If this is just a way of getting publicity, then he has achieved his target. MNCs should fight back and tell them that if this is his way of creating job then they will prefer moving out of US and supply products & services from other countries which will ruin US economy once again. China has already done that and it can be done again.

No doubt's, OBAMA election promises. But still premature to debate on this subject. We have to wait and watch. There is lot of variable factors attached to policy maker. We also need to see the culture shift of the people, I am optimistic we will get the job back with lot of strings attached. Let us hope for the best.

every leader of the country has got the moral right on his shoulders to protect his country's goodwill in all aspects.Mr.Obama is not wrong in this.but at the same time, we should not feel discouraged by this situation as there was a speculation long ago regarding this and definetly there will be some alternatives because every problem will have solutions unless it is not found.regarding Indian software market, yes there will be huge impact regarding revenue generation and job securities, but, as there is famous saying " if customer dosen't come to manufacturer, better manufacturer go near customer for his market"let us be brave enough to tackle this situation and prove we are self relient.

American President has precisely said "to withdraw tax concessions given to the businesses that are out-sourcing to India." He has not called for immediate ban on outsourcing. In order to protect American job market, he is entitled for taking such measures.

The business firms in US are shifting jobs to India, not for the sake of love for Indians, but to gain the cost advantage. They use India's expertise to retain their cost competitiveness. Now it will be purely business decisions for these firms to choose between cost advantage and tax concessions.

But it is time, that Indian IT industry should add innovation in their service to US, try to retain cutting edge. Simultaneously, it should also explore other job opportunities to reduce dependence on US markets. Most importanatly, it should remain away from panic button.

How can we find fault with Mr. Obama. Even the Mumbaikars do not want other than 'son of the soil' in Mumbai?

India has enough scope to generate employment for every one here and may be more. What we lack is a government  with the right political will. According to my view it can happen only by a total change in the out look of various political parties to bring in a fruitful polarization in the interest on the Nation, like a coalition of BJP and Congress party like what they did in Germany.

Other alternative is to establish a new avtar of a political party, led by younger generation in the parties and outside, sweeping the untenables under the carpet, if need be. I wonder why people of above 70s and 80s are so eager to serve the nation in the form of PMs and Ministers as if there is no one else suitable in this big country.

A third alternative is to go in for a non-political Federal government with  MPs elected from the States to function in the form of a corporate body as one unit in the Parliament leaving their political bias out.

It is heartening to see that, deeply hurt with the 26/11 experience, many youngsters have waken up. With strong Social networking, using powerful Information technology as its own media, they can make  that change.

Unfortunately we have a junk of a media that thrive on the mess created by all these unscrupulous and shameful political activism. Are these aya-ram gaya-rams in the form of party leadership more important than the parties? Most of the twists and turns and the political bickering based on those are the creation of the media. Look at how much media time is wasted in debating about the adventures and misadventures of the political leaders mos of which are non-issues. Look at their effort to feed words into their mouths and then bash the viewers with that for next 24 hours. Do any media honestly debate the merits and demerits of any political party.  To improve this, there is only one way, the Gandhian way, boycott the media. All those who are eager to make a change happen,  just don't cooperate with the media the way they want you to, for a month and see the results.
