When it comes to franchise lead generation, no method is as effective but as controversial as the use of franchise brokers. Used sparingly by franchisers less than a decade ago, franchise brokerage networks are today used by nearly half of all active franchisers and, by some estimates, account for as much as 10 percent of franchise sales.

So what has accounted for this dramatic rise in the use of franchise brokers? How do they work? And are brokerage firms right for your franchise organization?

It really depends on the situation. Sometimes franchise brokers or consultants can be good or bad. Many times in any investment deal there is some risk involved. A person or company just have to do their research and make strategic decisions about working with franchise brokers. 

The role of franchise consultants is to bring together buyers and sellers in a mutual setting to help each party work out their differences concerning a franchise or real estate type of deal. When all things are said and done, the franchise consultant collects a commission for closing the sale between the two parties. A person or company just has to be careful about working with franchise brokers and the types of deals or partnerships that they enter into.
