Do you believe Social media networks are the next frontier of corporate espionage?
Abilash Sonwane,Senior VP, Elitecore Technologies shares his views on this topic via online session on 8th December 2011 @ Virtual INTEROP
This session would depict a behind-the-scenes journey into the social media activities of a sample of 20 companies as well as their employees and partners who were mainly active on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. The objective of this experiment is to show how individual tidbits of information lying across social media, when seen together as an applied jigsaw puzzle, can reveal surprising insider information about the company that wouldn't be readily available to outsiders.
Through direct revelations, unmonitored tweets and logical deductions gathered from social media, it is possible for anyone including competitors to learn about an organization's core values, hierarchy, communication style, organizational motivation, industry environment, employee morale, business challenges, systems and processes, competitive information and intellectual property.
The aim here is to sensitize the attendees regarding this phenomenon by sharing an internal research that was done by the speaker's team, studying 20 sample organizations active on social networking sites where the objective was to get as much information as possible about these organizations. The findings are entertaining and scary at the same time.
