How would someone implement Solutions For Business Performance & Productivity Management, within a retail store?
Dear philip you are absolutely right, CRM is the most important thing that a businessman need to keep in mind.Customer relationship management (CRM) consists of the processes a company uses to track and organize its contacts with its current and prospective customers. CRM software is used to support these processes; information about customers and customer interactions can be entered, stored and accessed by employees in different company departments. Typical CRM goals are to improve services provided to customers, and to use customer contact information for targeted marketing.CRM initiatives often fail because implementation was limited to software installation, without providing the context, support and understanding for employees to learn, and take full advantage of the information systems.
And as for improving your retail management skills which include leadership development, marketing and sales abilities, and communication abilities. Also beneficial to an effective retail management is knowing the psychological stages people go through in the midst of buying things, as this will allow you to know if you have managed a successful transition, or if you need to address additional problems.
I hope i have answered your question and if you need any further help then surely i will be there for you.
Dear Philip- The performance of a store includes a number of factors ranging from- location, format, range, availability etc. etc. (we have 14 main factors). Each of these factors have multiple dependent sub-factors, like availability could be measured by OTIFOS, which would then depend on correct forecasting and ordering, current stock position, and vendor fill-rate. Forecasting could depend on seasonality, promotions, begining of month filling cycle or mid week top up plans etc. etc. The above would give you a flavour of how we set up our performance measurement system and dashboard reporting. Other than the above - there is the customer service component and 'share of mind' measurement that are a bit harder to quantify. Since you also are in the Logistics domain, you could (should?) integrate the supply chain and logistics. Hope this helps in setting up your performance management system.
To improve the performance of a retail store a company should provide an integrated platform for retail performance management.
- Align their corporate and store operations around critical revenue and profitability targets; and quickly adjust plans and resource allocations to achieve profitable growth.
- Identify, report on, and analyze trends to respond to consumer buying needs and behavior.
- Gain visibility into key metrics across the chain: sales, labor, inventory, and promotions.
- Monitor turnover and employee productivity.
- Increase cost savings by comparing and benchmarking performance across stores, channels, regions, and divisions.
- Optimize merchandise levels, minimize out-of-stocks, and manage inventory costs.
by following the above mentioned things, performance and productivity of a retail store will definitely increase.
