Some people, when they feel telling truth might complicate the issues at hand in the short term, quickly resort to hide, distort facts or even tell lies without having to bother about the consequences in the long term.
There are white lies which are casual and are allowable. But some lies, which cause people to take wrong decisions, which keep people under different impression or lead to deception are dangerous. But why people lie - is it because people find it difficult to speak the truth.
Some people lie deliberately, as per their strategy to achieve something, they decide to lie. In my opinion no one can convince them to speak the truth because they have to change their strategy completely.
But some people lie, simply because they do not have enough courage to face the immedite consequences and under some stressful conditions, they get into involuntry response - most of the times it would be a lie though some times people come up with truth based on the pressure levels thay can take.
I feel it is a childhood habit starts with telling small lies, fearing punishment. When we feel a kid is not speaking truth, we should not try to uncover his lies by asking further questions. We should tell them that we are not convinced with the response, we could freely discuss the issue. We should give them enough confidence that person be protected from punishment, if that persons acts have not already caused damage to the society or any individuals. It is the same for elders also. Many people usually have one person in whom they confide and speak always truth with them. Why? Because they feel safe and supportive.
Thatswhy, people think telling a lie is much easier than speaking truth, which needs courage.
Telling Lies or Speaking truth both are easy but there is a greatest disadvantage of telling lies is "you have to remember FOUR Ws i.e."What you said, Where you said, Why you Said & When you Said" otherwise you will be caught.
Telling truth is most simple as compared to a lie.... reason.... to tell a lie one speaks entirely non existing matter which is to be derived as per the responce of listener most of all you need to remember your groundings you did use to tell lie whereas for truth you need not to rot anything ... its same now and then always
Very well said by himanshu....It depends on person to person.....Some people tell lies because they are habituated to it and they are perfect in it, some lie because they are afraid of losing someone's trust if they said the truth and some tell lies because situation made them to lie...partially it depends on that person whether to say or to not...but it is on the part of the other person also to whom the former person is telling a lie....
We all must have said lies,no doubt about it.....must be telling also....but why do we do....???
Most common things...
1. Its easy to tell a lie....
2. Difficult to tell the truth
3. We are happy and satisfied to lie(IF SAID TO FOOL SOMEONE).....
4. Situation made us to....
But i personally believe that if you want to tell a lie, make sure that ur never caught...Because if ur caught it will destroy u,someone's trust on u,ur image. You will feel guilty of telling lies....
So, i want to tell it to myself and everyone who would read my post, please "Rather be MUM than telling a LIE...OR have the COURAGE to speak the TRUTH..."
Speaking truth is most difficult as you need to have courage to speak it..but for speaking lies you always make excuses and i feel anyone csn make it very easily..So dont try to hide the truth by speaking lies s u will be caught someday or other..
So be courageous enough to speak truth & then face the situation...
both are are easy it depends on the person who is speaking...a perfect lier who is very smart will never be caught if he has the ability to prove himself right....and make others fool...
BUT IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO SPEAK TRUTH BECAUSE IF YOUR ARE CAUGHT SPEAKING LIE THEN IT YOU LOOSE YOUR CREDIBILITY...
Speaking the truth may appear to be difficult first; but in due course the experience would prove that it is easier than uttering a lie. Uttering lies is likely to damage one's own equanimity. That is why, Thiruvalluvar has advised us not to lie; he has warned that if we do so our own mind would chastise us. (Thirukkural 293)
