Is this a generalized question or are you talking about a Job in India?? If its a generalized question then I would say No! English is not important!! Rather learning and being abreast with the local language of the country you choose to work (other than any native English speaking nations) is very important. See for yourself the severly Non-English speaking developed countries e.g Japan, China, Germany and most of the European nations except U.K.
ya offcourse,,, because the Skill is the tools of your,,now the english language is the very complusory of any course,, whenever it is required or not that means i want to say franckly (THE KNOWLEDGE IS THE POWER, THE ATITUDE IS THE SOUL AND THE SKILL IS THE TOOLS),,,keep in mind so plz u have always with ur tools,,,,,ok,,
Any additional language you know is beneficial for your career. Depending on your place and type of work - it might be not english though, but (in no particular order) french, german, russian, mandarin, spanish.
I think it can be a yes and a No depending on the nature of work you are looking for ,If u are looking for an accounting job there English is not that necessary while in a BPO process
