IN MANY PLACES ,RIGHT FROM BRITISH PERIOD ,WE HAVE COMMON RAI CUM ROAD BRIDGE,IT WAS WHEN THE ROAD TRAFFIC WAS LESS AND TRIN RUNNING THROUGH BRIDGE WERE VERY LIMITED ,ONLY ONE OR TWO PER DAY.
CANT WE HAVE OF SIMILAR TYPE WHERE ROAD TRAFFIC OR TRAIN MOVEMENT IS VERY LESS,IN REMOTE AREA,CAN HAVE BOTH RAIL/ROAD BRIDGES AT DIFFERENT LEVEL ON ONE FOUNDATION AND COMMON SUBSTRUCTURE .
Good idea. With the design and construction technology available in India we can do it. But wha.t is needed to analyse is the benefits. Cost, required land, road safety, speed etc
Rail cum Road bridges can be taken up if all other things are favourable. One Rail cum Road brige on on Chennai - Kolkata trunk road near Rajahmundry across River Godavari,said to be Asia's longest Rail cum Road bridge, serves huge rail and road traffic.
