A computer engineer has unlimited avenues for a career in space sciences (depending on his expertise i.e. hardware or software)
In hardware, he is directly involved in payload and mission operations designs. In software, the onboard processing of data for volume reduction, auto-controls in mission planning and operations, processing of data at ground receiving points.
In the applications side, he can develop specific software for data processing and interpretation including specialized image analysis techniques.
