Most of the Government Offices are characterized by corruption, negligence and apathy towards the public. People who approach them for various issues which they are not familiar with, are ill-treated and they come back disappointed. What action can the Govt. take to set things right and formulate a system whereby public interest is taken care of?
MOST? I would enlarge it to say "ALL".
Have 24 hours Governance (in Shifts) and a working Government, like the Rest House in Shirdi which is managed 24X7 for pilgrims.
Have competition to Government spending by Employees by outsourcing to Companies with a Good CSR Track.
Have Audits by Public and strip public servants naked for dishonesty and parade them in their home town to remove all vestiges of their dignity.
Confiscate property attained by illegal means.
stop corruption at our level and it will stop but we need to be ready to fight and take punishment for ourselves. When you break a traffic rule instead of giving Rs.50.00 to the police officer give him Rs. 100.00 or Rs.150.00 as per the law and get the challan for the same so that it reaches the treasure of the country S I M P L E
Its very simple........ i, u and all have to change......
Elect a proper canditate..........who can understand the powers given by the constitution to them and utilise them properly towards people betterment........
This could lead to proper employment down the line and could also lead to better policies and their implementations.
This is a cycle, the root cause needs to the treated first and everything would fall in place perfectly there after....
Is curruption found in public and govt. sectors only?????????? Private sectors are not affected???????????
We have toi change ourselves first.
1. First step should be to have one agency for the entire nation - to check corruption.
2. The complaint can be given to this agency by any body; but if it is found to be wrongly given intentionally to avenge the other party or if it is frivolous, the complanant should be reasonably punished. If he/she was proved correct, the person should be reasonably rewarded.
3. There should be a time frame for investigation and deciding the case of corruption. The number of corruption cases may run into millions and there may not be adequate personnel to look into this matter. Hence local literate citizen groups consisting of professionals like lawyers, Engineers, Accountants, Doctors etc. should be formed to look into these cases and decide whether prima facie the officer concerned was corrupt or not. Thereafter, fast track courts meant exclusively to deal with corruption should decide the punishment.
4. The degree or severity of punishment should vary based on the office held by the corrupt officer. For example, if he was the officer of such office which was supposed to guard law and order, the punishment should be more severe and so on.
5. This should be national law above all the laws like state Police and other agencies so that the local groups can act without any fear or favour. The local groups also should have responsibility and are subject to punishment if they are found to have fovoured a particular person in any manner whatsoever.
If all of us practice this system for about two years, I am sure India will be without corruption.

Government cannot sit in judgement on its own officers who are caught taking bribes. Government should not interfere in anti-corruption and vigilance cells. Recently in TN the person responsible for statewide anti-corruption raids based on public report has been shunted out. This demoralises other officials and sends a strong signal to police not to bother about corruption in the state.
Well it is very easy to conclude that politicians & babudom are corrupt ignoring the root cause of this corruption. We sometimes say that the system is infusing corruption. But the fact is we are cunningly hide our fault as we the public are the root cause ofcorruption.
India is a democracy & Constitution provides right to each public to elect their represantative. These public respresantatives are mandated to administer public servants for the interest of public. Now during election a sizable population (30 to 60 %) never votes. Those who votes, bargain hard for cash & kind to elect some body. A politicians has to invest huge amount to be elected as represantative. In other words a politician almost bought the mandate. When some body has topurchase the mandate it becomes purely business. thus once elected, the first instruction by the public represantatives to the public servant to raise money to compensate their expenditures along with interest & profit margine plus reserve fund for next election. While raising funds, public servants pocket their funds as a matter of right of share holder in a business. Thus when despite being the master, public itself is corrupt at the first stage why to blame its represantative or its servant?
Fortunately neither all public are bad nor all netas & babus. But their number is very insignificant at the moment. The only cure is the master (public) need to be fair & honest. If public are honest, their represantatives (netas) are ought to be responsible & accountable. If our represantatives becomes good how dare the Public servants (babus) dare to be corrupt?
Politician corrupt to have money for the next election. Our election commission tries its level best to control the expenses. So these efforts will start giving some results. All governments shall come together to make all banks in Swish and other countries transparent so that the corrupt money can not be stashed away. General public like you and me shall stop corrupting the government officials.
Govt itself cannot effectively control corruption. It can only make policies and regulations.
IT is becoz most of the govt officials are corrupt incl politicians
What can be done is -We the people only can control corruption.
-we stop paying bribe,or stop tempting with bribes
- stop circumventing the rules and regulations.
-Stop deviating from rules and procedures.
-Stop going to the depts on the last moment and ask favours.
-stop jumping the Q.
educate people that the moment nobody is interested in giving bribes then automatically govt starts working efficiently, they cannot sit on approvals/licences,sanctions etc etc for long and it is useless. so processing of all matters is smooth.
This way public can take care of public interest.
