In a business environment of increasing complexity and risk, companies are looking beyond supply chain visibility and planning to complementary competencies that enable rapid, collaborative resolution to change.
But still all the efforts are going in vain...
What could be the barriers to managing the global supply networks..??
I do agree to Akhilesh but if look at the logistics side I would say that IT and Operations are hard hit with competing demands when it comes to B2B eCommerce and effective supply chain management. These departments are stretched thin trying to manage market volatility and protect investments as it is, while overseeing an increasingly global supply chain as the company sources the most cost-effective suppliers worldwide.
Hi Shailena.. according to me, apart from the barriers mentioned by Vijay, consumer buying behavior is also a concern. It requires the companies to respond much faster. The search for lower supply costs and new sales markets is making supply chains more vulnerable as traditional supply/demand variability is raising the level of risk too high for most companies to manage effectively in a global economy.
According to me, today’s economy is dominated by the rising costs of fuel, food and other commodities and the volatility which is here to stay. Coupled with the credit crunch, there is increased pressure on supply chain performance where it is paramount to squeeze out as much inefficiency and cost to counter these other market forces.
